    Summary

Dolly is the very nice old woman who lives three blocks down from Jason’s third-favorite safe house. It’s not out of the norm for her to ask him to put this or that knick-knack on this or that shelf, but it is out of the norm for him to open the closet door and nearly be swallowed by yarn.

“Oh, dear,” Dolly says. “I forgot that was the yarn closet.”

“A yarn closet,” Jason repeats disbelievingly. He places the knick-knack on top of the shelf. There is an endless rainbow of yarn pooled around his feet. “What do you even do with all this?”

Dolly says, “Hats, scarves. Hot pads if I’m bored. Blankets if there’s a baby. Honestly, you can crochet all kinds of things.”

“Crocheting,” Jason says. And this is where he makes his fatal mistake: “Is that kind of like knitting?”

Five minutes later, Jason finds himself seated on the couch, a bundle of yarn in one hand and some kind of hook in the other.

    ***

Jason Todd learns how to crochet. It turns out that having healthy emotional outlets improves your mental health and your relationships with others--like, say, a certain set of Bats.

    Summary

Red Hood kept his distance from the Bats. They had something akin to a truce, but they always maintained a healthy level of mutual wariness and animosity. None of them knew him, not in any way that mattered, and he was content keeping things that way.

Unfortunately, secrets had a way of coming to light.

    Summary

    From a Hobbitkink prompt:

The battle was over, and Thorin Oakenshield awoke, naked and shivering, in the Halls of his Ancestors.

The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.

(Follows the story of the War of the Ring).

(Bagginshield, Gimli/Legolas) In which recovery takes time, the dead members of the Company take to watching Gimli as though he’s a soap opera, the living struggle with being left behind, Legolas is confused, Khuzdul is abused, and Thorin is four feet and ten inches of guilt and anger.

    Summary

"Under the regular harsh yellow glow of the lightbulbs, there’s nothing special about the mold. It’s like any other mold, really; it's disgusting. But under the natural light of the moon, it shimmers. The darkened tendrils take an iridescent hue, deep purples and blues bleeding into each other. It’s beautiful and entrapping. I’ve followed those hues for hours, desperately trying to understand how such filth could be so breathtaking.

And that’s what is terrifying. It lures me in with its beauty. Its pull is stronger than it has ever been. I enter a stupor when I’m near it, and it pulls me towards it. I sit on the floor of my bedroom and just stare at it. The shimmer, that iridescent shine of purples and blues, lures me to it. It invites me to sit with it, with nothing distracting me from its beauty and love.

And once its elegance entrances me, it begins whispering to me.

It whispers that I am divine. It tells me that I could join it, become one with it, and be fulfilled in every way I could ever imagine."
