Summary
Levi has been recruited to join the Survey Corps by the young, charismatic, Captain Erwin Smith. Albeit apprehensively, Levi and his dearest friends are received into the regiment, and swept into the strange, sun-soaked world above the underground. When Levi is dragged to the captain's office for a scuffle during training, he finds that Erwin wants something from him, and for some reason, he just can’t refuse. Perhaps his welcome into the corps does not come without a debt to be paid.
Or manipulative Erwin convinces touch starved Levi that there is one very specific form of repayment acceptable for his freedom from the underground + some ackerbond shenanigans.

“Right,” the man corrects. “This is to be a gift?”
Erwin nods, and reaches for the nearest carved sculpture before them. “Yes. For the mating ceremony of Duchess Zoë and Lord Berner.”
The craftsman's eyes widened in recognition. “I have heard rumors of the Duchess's particular tastes. If I may—?”
“You may,” Erwin grants the man permission. He disappears back behind the burnt orange curtain that separates the shop front from his workshop, leaving Erwin and Levi with a tray of intricately detailed phallus–shaped objects.
Levi picks up one that appears to be carved from antler. “Finest in the capital city?”
A stroke of pink, bright as a spring rose petal, blooms across Erwin's cheekbone at the question. He clearly knows where this is going already. “Yes.”
“Fit only for the heir to the throne and his mate?”
“Yes.” Despite his steady tone, the color of his cheeks deepens, turning crimson.

"Erwin raises his hand and reaches toward Levi’s shoulder. They don’t do that, the two of them. They don’t touch. There are lines in their relationship, the unspoken ones, that they do not cross. Erwin’s fingertips still, hovering over Levi’s shoulder, hesitating. Erwin’s face remains reserved and measured as if contemplating one of his schemes, moving a piece on a chessboard. Levi can swear that he can feel the heat of Erwin’s palm, or rather, he can feel the gap between them. The tension, the hesitation – the lack of Erwin’s fingers on his skin burns the air between them. They remain like that, suspended, painfully aware of the sharpness of the lines separating their bodies. So close, yet so distant."
