—means that there is no true and unchanging self. One cannot look at themselves and say "this is where I begin and the world ends; this is all of me." Similarly, there is no enduring "self" from one moment to the next; all that we are defies classification and exists to change.
Kujou Sara has had strange dreams her entire life—dreams of a life as a general of the Inazuma Shogunate, and the two women with which she fell in love. One day, she visits a museum exhibit on the history of the Shogunate, and when she meets a strange, familiar woman there, Sara realises that these may not just be dreams after all.
With this realisation comes questions, and as Sara finds herself drawn into memories of a past life, immersed in feelings that may or may not be truly hers, she comes face to face with the question of who—and what—she really is.
