Summary
Sam thought having a soulmate already handpicked for you with the one connection of hearing the songs they listen to was a fantastic idea. Soulmates were a thing regardless, there was someone for everyone, and the music was simply a hint that God gifted humanity with.
Dean constantly felt as if he was one step behind, just on the outside looking in, and he had too many bad associations with the whole soulmate situation to ever be positive about it. In fact, he'd go as far as saying that he hated it, and he had a couple of times to pretty much anyone he met.
That, unfortunately, would come back to bite him in the ass.
~~~
Dean could feel the color draining from his face as the next song drifted through his mind, the all too familiar intro to Black Dog playing softly for only two pairs of ears to hear. The song played through, and he waited for the next, somehow just knowing what would come. And sure enough, Dean listened to Black Dog predictably transition into Immigrant Song with a slight crackle that he'd done his best to erase.
Dean gritted his teeth. "You've got to be fucking kidding me."
Summary
Dean knows exactly why he’d pulled Cas out of the Empty. It’s not charity. It’s selfishness. He’d made Cas lose his paradise, the version of life the Empty had created for him with his mirage of Dean, just because Dean was too scared to be alone. Dean had promised Cas that he’d pretend for him. He’d said he’d do whatever Cas needed to be as happy here as he’d been in the Empty’s reality. But Dean doesn’t even know how to be the person Cas thinks he is.
Either Cas is lying, or his standards are impossibly low. Cas apparently thought it’d be enough for him just to be near Dean. But that’s not what love should be. It should want something back. Dean’s own feelings are irrelevant. He wants Cas, wants to be someone who deserves him. He can’t have him. He can’t construct a monologue about his reasons for loving Cas like Cas had done for him. He’s pretty sure that holding Cas’s hand would make him combust, after so long subsisting on scraps of shoulder-pats and Cas only touching him to heal him.
Summary
Castiel is alive. He's back from the Empty, and he knows Dean loves him too. He had been so sure that Dean was going to kiss him.
He couldn't. Castiel's deal is still in effect. If Dean kisses him, or says anything back, he will die again.
Jack seems to think that Castiel will get out of the deal. Castiel knows better. His actions have consequences. To himself, and to Dean, who wants him too and still can't have him.
Summary
For the anniversary of Castiel's introduction. Have a finale fix-it!
Castiel can’t see. He can’t move. He doesn’t know where he is. All he can do is listen to the radio. It plays music, sometimes. Other times, he can tune in to the prayers from his family.
And maybe, somehow, the radio waves can help him get out.
