Katsuki counts to thirty in his head, then leans down to give breaths. Shoto's lips are cool beneath his, and that makes him want to sob. Just ten minutes ago, they were warm! They were moving against him! He forces air into Shoto's lungs, watches his chest rise, and prays harder than he's ever prayed in his life.
"Two minutes out," Kirishima confirms, his phone still pressed to his ear. "They said keep doing CPR, don't stop—"

“Katsuki? Izuku?” He wearily calls out. He hopes that they’re still there, but he knows better than to let his guard down.
A guttural growl tore from Katsuki’s throat as he whipped around. What Shouto saw weren’t the eyes of his lover. Those eyes — bright and burning red — were usually filled with fire, with fury, with love. They sharpened during arguments, but melted in the quiet moments at home.
But now?
These eyes were wild. Glassy. Empty. There was no recognition in them. No thought. Just the stare of something feral — like a wild animal, backed into a corner.

When a villain’s quirk turns Bakugo and Midoriya into feral weapons, they destroy the one person they swore to protect. Shouto survives, but recovery is more than just physical. He wants things to go back to the way they were. He wants to forgive them. But it’s hard to say that out loud when you can’t even speak.

Shouto could hear children laughing from beyond of the fence of the backyard and wonder why he couldn't be happy like them? All Shouto wanted to do was behave so that he would not get into more trouble. He longed for someone to save him like he saw All Might do in the cartoons that he would get in trouble with his dad if he was caught watching. There had to be more...
The first chapter captures a brief insight of what life was like for Shouto when he was trapped with Enji and Rei. The following chapters follow Shouto's recovery as he learns what love is from his new family.
This fic is a rewrite of the first fic in the series "Fragments" in Shouto's POV.

Summary
This is a collection of stories about the Wild Kratts. Adventures, missions and various accidents, mishaps and violence. Some chapters are more easy-going and feature minor injuries and canon-typical banter, while others (most) feature severe injuries, pain, blood, fear and healthy amounts of fluff. Some chapters feature near-death experiences, but no-one dies!
Partially illustrated (more probably to come) with my own, personally drawn, digital fanart (NO AI!!).
