After the departure of Elle Greenaway, Hotch starts the process of hiring a new agent. The day the new agent is about to start, Emily Prentiss comes into his office instead, saying she was his new agent. Now he has two agents, and without anything better to do, he allows them both to follow along on the case, just until he can sort this mess out. After a lengthy conversation with Strauss, he learns that apparently both agent's hiring is final, meaning he has to keep them both (At least for a while). But both agents prove themselves to be assets, so he decides to make their placement on the team permanent.
