If Dio survived being a head, Dio can certainly survive being burnt in the desert.
He wants to heal. He wants to attain Heaven - but first he wants revenge.
Canonically, his first diary was burned by Jotaro in 1988. It is heavily referenced in Stone Ocean.
[Like all diaries, this is told from the subject's skewed perspective. Just because he is a vampire and a Stand user does not mean he doesn't make mistakes or contradict himself. He has a European white man's Victorian sensibility which means he holds some (detestable) antiquated views on all sorts of non-European, non-male, non-abled, non-Stand-using humans.]
This is the companion to Father's Blessings (a slow-burn, vampy bruabba fix-it fic). Dio's diary is rated Teen and Up. Father's Blessings is rated Explicit for violence and sexual content.
