“It had always felt like there was some sort of gaping emptiness there, like a hole that Zagreus couldn’t quite fill, no matter how hard he tried. Truly, he had tried. Back when he was younger, he used to do anything to get Hades’ attention- he wanted nothing more than for his father to express his pride and affection for his son. However, it never seemed to work. There were some days/nights when Hades couldn’t even seem to bring himself to look at Zagreus. Nyx and Achilles tried to reassure him and tell him that it wasn’t his fault, but he saw past their false comforts.
The simple truth was that Hades didn’t like Zagreus. That was fine. Zagreus didn’t like him either. Sure, every petty insult stung like a stab wound, but he could tune out the noise. He had tried to change every aspect of himself to get Hades to love him when he was little- well, then, he could change it back. He learned to embrace his identity as the King of the Underworld’s wayward son, drifting aimlessly and lacking a purpose.”
Zagreus runs until he can’t, and he finds himself along the way.

Summary
Things… change.
Ghost supposes that many would probably say that they get better. They do get better, don’t they? Yes, they do. Things change, and they are better. The Infection is gone, and Hollow is safe, and Hornet is happy, and so Ghost is fine. Perhaps they are selfish, and they mourn a dying world that they can never return to, and they are more alone than ever before, but they’ll get over it.
…And it’s not as if anyone will notice if they don’t.
Ghost goes back in time, kills the Radiance, and sets everything right. They tell no one, and do it on their own. It is only after their family is happy, and the kingdom is safe, and the Abyss is soothed to sleep, that they realize just how lonely it is as the last remaining piece of a future never to be.

Summary
Dream hates being angry. He hates the burning passion in his Soul that flares up any time he’s upset, hates how heat rises to his face and tears well in his eyes. He hates how he shakes and snaps and shouts, how he never thinks ahead, how he just says any cruel thing that comes to mind.
Most of all, Dream hates being angry at his friends.

Summary
There are things that people take for granted without realizing. Hypothetically, it’s obvious that one would think to be grateful for what they have on occasion. For example, reading a sad story, hearing about an unfortunate accident— these are things that remind people to hold tighter to their loved ones in their hearts. Only briefly, of course. Then things go back to normal, and it’s only natural for one to be oblivious once again.
It is only when things happen— horrible, unexpected and unfortunate things— that one realizes just what they had been blind to. They’ll end up looking at the rest of the world in loathing and bitter disbelief, wondering how everyone can walk around in ignorance of what they have.
The most hatred they’ll hold will be towards their past self though. They’ll curse themselves until the day they die.
Or at least, that’s how Diluc felt when Kaeya killed himself.
