Summary
They talk more now, precisely because she is less present. Their dialogue is a tapestry of small things: shared Instagram reels of waddling ducks, digital pool games, and silly mom and son videos captioning "you and your son", a phrase that never fails to give her butterflies. He texts "Stay safe out there" when she's in the field. This isn't to say the friction is gone, no, they do bicker, and on New Year's Eve, his blonde, far-too-young Pilates instructor, who had so clearly invited herself to Rossi's party, became the kindling for a little bit of an angry sex.

Summary
“You said something…” Jade had said, and JJ’s eyebrow had involuntarily arched up a bit, as Emily looked at her curiously. “What do you mean?”
“In the warehouse. When we talked, About the feeling, “After some man is done holding you down.”” Jade had quoted, her voice almost shaky, and the gray-haired woman had nodded slightly.
And so Jade had gone to explain how she had been thinking about it, and how she felt that it was deeper that Ian Doyle, and Emily had listened closely, had watched the girl with almost the same intense eyes that sometimes she watched Jeniffer with.
----
Or: Jade mentions what Emily had said, and JJ can't get it out of her head, and so they talk about it (kinda).
