Summary
Scott’s childhood was filled with bedtime stories told by his mother, stories of the other empires, of magic, of the gods. She told grand tales of corruption and the gods who sacrificed themselves to cast it from the realm, leaving the land they created and the people they guided safe.
Then she dies, and there is no more time for stories. Scott devotes himself to his studies. He molds himself into the image of a beloved king, elegant, knowledgeable, kind, and perfect. Always perfect. He provides for the citizens of Rivendell and watches as his kingdom thrives. He joins the Alliance, establishing trade routes and alliances, and gains a few friends along the way.
But something goes wrong. Something creeps through the land, corrupting it. Accompanying it is a creature of magic, a creature that speaks with a voice belonging to the shadows and Nether, and each day it grows stronger.
His mother's stories may no longer just be stories. But they may not be the entire truth either.

Summary
The sword fumbled in his hand, but Joel was acting quicker than he ever could. Diamond axe met skin, and Scott crumpled to the floor, blood dashing from the wound as Joel breathed heavily over the body. The body of the man he always hated, finally dead by his hand.
Familiar set of brown eyes landed on Jimmy’s shaky caramel eyes. Joel softened staring at his best friend – his fellow reject. The last two of Past Life. Ghosts gathered around them, their clear forms dancing around expectingly.
