Summary
Alana Clemente is an Omega. She is supposed to go through a heat every month and eventually mate with an Alpha or Beta who can help her through them. The problem? Alana refuses. No amount of money, time, or love could make her want to go through a heat with or without someone. Her friends Mickey and Lorelai had spent countless hours trying to help her only to be ignored or dismissed. Alana is fine. She has her suppressors and she is fine. As long as she doesn’t go through a heat she will be fine. Right?
Unfortunately for her, Alana finds herself at the Revolution Recovery Center for Alphas and Omegas. After years of abusing suppressors, she has no choice but to go through a heat. It's been ten years since Lucerys last saw Aemond on that terrible night when Aemond lost an eye and Lucerys lost his mother. After that, Aemond and his siblings were disowned, given bastard names and scattered across Westeros to live under the watch of loyal Houses.

The Valryan gods foresee what destruction Lucerys Velaryon’s death will bring and decide to intervene. They cannot stop the dragons from dancing but they can change the tune.
Lucerys comes back from the dead thanks to Balerion’s intervention and decides that, since he failed to help his mother’s cause as himself, he should become someone different - the masked, mute, mystery dragonrider known only as Lord Velaryon.
The gods aren’t content with intervening in just one person’s fate, however. Other gods set their eyes on Aemond and work to set him on a different path.
One day, Lucerys and Aemond’s paths will cross again and, when they do, they will be very different people.

When Rhaenyra returns from finding Lucerys’ body Daemon is there waiting to grieve with her.
“I would have gone with you,” he says. She doesn’t say anything. He waits, pauses, and when she still doesn’t he prematurely grimaces, because he hates to be vulnerable in front of anyone, much less the one who he cares most about their opinion of him. But he feels like he has to. No, that’s not it. He feels like he should.
“I wanted to go with you,” he says.
“You were needed here.”
