“Fookin’ hell, lass!”It was out before he could catch it. Thick, rough, and wrong. His accent dragged through every syllable, filthy as the streets he’d come from, betraying the home of his youth in the stretch of his words.
No! The verbal mask slipped for the first time since he was a teen. An utter loss of his control that made Severus stiffen in a whole new way, pulling back quickly to end this all in sheer embarrassment.
Severus jerked back, pulling away from her as shame clawed up his throat. Almost forcing out a just as foreign apology as his mind scrambled to find some dignified way to end this.
But her fingers curled into his hair, yanking hard enough to catch his attention again. With a whisper, her nails scraped his scalp as she urged him back down to her. He looked down, taking in the flush of her face and the way her lips parted with a breathy whine.
“Say it again, Severus.”

Summary
Post Wizarding War, Hermione is to start her final year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, this time without trouble-seeking friends and vengeful megalomaniacs running about distracting her from what really matters. Studying. Should be fairly straightforward, right?
Much to her dismay, there is a new law put in place that might not allow for such an easy year after all. While everyone else she knows is matched before the school year begins, Hermione is left in the dark. Given an extension, she’s told to finish her last year of schooling in peace and she will be notified of the Ministry's choice when she graduates.
The war has taken its toll on Hermione, and she struggles more than even she realises to regain who she once was and maintain both her physical and mental well-being in the wake of so much loss and pain. Now, with the law on her mind, the uncertainty of her future only furthers her stress. When help is offered from an unlikely ally, a strange, new relationship forms. Two broken people heal. But what will happen to this relationship once she and her fiance are brought together?
