Summary
There was something so twisted about guilt. Something so incoherent about it, so inexplicable. It ate you from the inside out. It consumed you. It ruined you, until you were nothing but a mere shell plagued by the horrors of your past, of the acts you committed. Even if they weren’t exactly your fault, the human brain, it was a twisted little thing. It bent you to see the worst in situations. The more compassion you held, the ruthless your mind was.
And Charles? Charles was the kindest human Max had ever laid eyes on.
OR
Charles had pent-up his emotions for too long. Max is as stubborn as Charles last saw him 10 years ago. Chaos ensues.

Summary
If Charles could go back in time, he wouldn’t stop himself from falling in love—he would just stop himself from moving into the apartment. He’d grab his past self by the collar and throw him into the ocean before he ever answered that damn message. Because if he moved in, if he spent even a week living with Max Verstappen, it was over. Game set match.

Summary
The sight makes Max laugh again, even harder, until he’s breathless. His hands are still against Charles, but they’re both leaning in now, foreheads bumping together in a way that would probably be painful if Max could feel anything right now.
“This is insane,” he breathes.
“What is?”
Max isn’t sure. This conversation. This entire night. The last few weeks that they’ve spent accidentally ending up in all the same places.
“I thought you were gonna hit me,” he says, instead of answering. “That last time? In the coffee shop, y’know.”
“Were you hoping that I would?"
Max doesn’t know how to explain that he’s been waiting to feel the impact for twenty years.
