    The scent hit him as soon as the door opened. Saliva flooded his mouth, and a snarl ripped from his chest before he could stop it. He pulled the front door shut behind him, gripping the frame to steady himself. He dragged a breath in deep, tasting the scent that was so thick in the air it was nearly a physical wall, and groaned. Ripe peaches, dripping with juice. Sugary sweet rice dough. Warm, milky vanilla. Night-blooming summer jasmine. And, at the very base, a subtle curl of incense, warm and thick on the tongue. He wanted to get his fangs around Yuuji and bite. Sink his teeth in and gobble him up like a piece of the mochi his scent brought to mind.

    "What does love mean to you?"

    Sukuna didn't really know how to answer that question. He's not the type to acknowledge being loved or be loving, the cause of which is unknown, but the effect thoroughly seen in his relationships.

    It was known to be boring and lonely, that's for sure.

    "What makes you complete?"

    Power and strength, of course. But maybe that's not just it. He doesn't think to understand why it's so important to find and dig deeper.

    He switches the radio to the news. Sukuna spaces out, the words not registering past some cult-ish activists having been stealing people's clothes in the backyards of neighborhoods, some elaborate scheme to get the whole city naked. He didn't bother figuring the rest out— the world doesn't mean shit to him, but it's always fascinating to hear from the other side.

    He stops the car for a moment— then someone bangs on the window. Some teen, who couldn't be older than 16, bangs frantically against it. Irritation spikes in Sukuna's face. His finger presses down on the button to roll it down.
