She didn’t want to be a pet…
Winter was getting closer. The nights are getting colder. The wind blew and pricked her skin, her clothes doing nothing to protect against the harsh air.
She didn’t want to freeze…
She rubbed her eyes, tears prickling and the dirt on her hands smeared into mud. Her once light skin is now darker from dirt and sun exposure.
She didn’t want to be dirty…
Food was scarce and hard to come by in the wild, monsters didn’t need to throw away food either, leaving trash cans full of inedibles.
She didn’t want to starve…
Watching the skeletons, she curled up closer to the tree trunk watching them eat around the dining table. He still had that sad look to his eyelights, but he was smiling and eating with his taller brother. The taller one fussed over him, making grand gestures and talking about what she assumed was his day.
Her stomach growled at the sight of spaghetti on their plates.
She didn’t want to be a pet…

She could feel something shifts under her skin between her shoulders and a heat spread down her spine. She whimpered in pain and panic when the sound of tearing fabric filled the air as white wings popped out of her back. Izuka watches as the scrapes and new bruises vanish before her eyes. Straining her neck she stares amazed at the wings on her back they twitch and stretch at her attention. Tears gather in her eyes blurring the image of the one thing she has always wanted, a Quirk.

Summary
It's six years after the Emergence, and while most of the monsters decided to stay close to the mountain on the west coast, slowly but surely a good few made it over to the opposite coast and settled down in Washington DC. Besides the King and Queen and their human child - relocated to the political center of the US for obvious reasons, you mostly see dogs, bunnies, and cat monsters integrating themselves among your coworkers and neighbors. Things aren't perfect, but they're improving day by day.
You have a stable job as a PR and Marketing Expert, a handful of close friends, and a stable and predictable routine.
When you randomly meet a brand new type of monster in town while late night shopping, you can't help but be frightened of him. After all- he's literally a living skeleton! Embarrassing, but at least you'll never have to see him again... right?
What happens when fate has other plans, and you just. keep. running into each other?

Sure, your parents may fight a lot and hurt you sometimes, but that's just what normal families were like, right?
It wasn't all bad, though. For one, they were taking you to Freddy Fazbear's Mega Pizzaplex for your 9th birthday! Maybe they'll even stop fighting for the day and get you a present!
Well, that's what you had hoped, at least. Now you were stuck in this building for the night because your parents had forgotten about you and went home.
At least the animatronics were nice. Especially the two daycare attendants, who seem really concerned about how you're treated.

You never thought you would move to New Ebott, but after learning more than you should have, it was the only city where you could hide it.
It was the city where monsters and humans lived side by side, where both could be mobsters, thieves, dealers, or saints. Sometimes all in the same breath. New Ebott didn’t ask questions, though. It didn’t care who you were, just what you brought to the table, or what you could pay to keep off of it.
Of course, you had plans to stay out of trouble. That was until you met a golden tooth skeleton who won't leave you alone.
