Summary
Tim drags his eyes away from the screen, letting them slide through the cave in an attempt to stay awake.
Jason Todd, former Robin, is standing in front of the display case with his outfit.
“I told him to take it down,” Tim’s mouth says without input from his brain.
Jason glances at him, then turns back to the case. “Pretty poor taste, considering I’m not dead.”
“Huh,” is all Tim can come up with. “It was covered in blood, dude, something went down.”
He gets an airy wave, wiping valid facts away like dandelion fluff. “Jumping headfirst into method acting isn’t a good strategy.”
That’s–that’s–Tim’s brain genuinely shuts down, because there’s no good way to respond. It’s almost psychotic enough to be true if he didn’t know for a fact that Jason Todd was beaten, blown up, and buried.

“I hear there was an incident yesterday?”
Incident is such a versatile word. Tim looks away from the man to look around the office instead. He likes it here. It’s colourful, with pictures on the wall and books stuffed in the shelves and a box of toys the man offered Tim exactly once before he realised that Tim doesn’t know what to do with them.
Sometimes they draw though and he can see the crayons tucked away in the box too.
“I was sick of the white,” Tim says as if it’s an explanation.
“I see,” the man says, also as if it’s an explanation.

Tim is not alright. Jason tries to help.

Tim remembers reading about Joan of Arc once, of her prophetic dreams, her warnings and the way she defeated her opponents. He knows like she knew, that with inaction would come failure and with failure impossible loss.
He’s never been much of a believer in religion in general, sees too much to ever consider of a kind spirit above but sometimes he still finds himself praying for it to stop, for the world to be lifted off his shoulders. No resolution comes, and his offerings remain rejected. He continues to see.
Tim is born with an uncanny ability to know and it changes surprisingly little.
