He’d love to render his friends speechless for once when they hear that hey, David and Matteo are actually getting married, so if they could kindly shut up now, that would be great. And that’s absolutely the only reason. It’s not because every day he wakes up next to David he wishes they were wearing matching rings. It’s not because every time he calls David his boyfriend, he imagines how good it’d feel to call him husband. It’s also not because he’d love to make David the promise of loving him forever, through the good and the bad, and let him know that down the line, when they’re both settled with a steady income, a steady life, he’d actually really love to start a family with him.
No, nothing to do with that at all. He’s just tired of the jokes.

“They’re kinda right, you know.”
Matteo’s head whipped around, not realizing that David had come back in the room, and asked, his eyebrows drawing down, “What?”
“You’ve been a bit of an asshole tonight.”
“I won,” Matteo said, shrugging his shoulders and smirking back up at David, “I deserved to be.”
“Actually,” David said, slowly walking closer to Matteo, whose smile got smaller with each step David took, “I’m not a huge fan of how you were acting tonight.”
Matteo scoffed, looking back down at his phone with a quiet, “Oh, fuck off.”
Something in David’s face shifted, and his hand reached around to the back of Matteo’s head, grabbed the hair there, and pulled.

Summary
It takes him several tries to light the joint between his own lips and hand it to David. When he looks up, the other one looks amused.
‘You’re so drunk.’
‘You’re so drunk,’ Matteo parrots before thinking, but it makes David’s lips stretch into a smile around the joint in his mouth, and fuck, that’s a sight.

Matteo (instead of Carlos) fails his Abi. Him and David don't meet until about a year later when Matteo feels isolated and inadequate as everybody is moving on except for him. They bond over pizza and assassins.
Including: A demon cat with a stupid name, friendship and bad flirting (what else is new)
