Summary
He’d always known Henry was good with kids, his ability to match their energy was practically legendary, but this was different. This was Henry pouring his heart into something bigger than himself. Peter opened his mouth to say something, but his throat closed around the words, emotions tangling in his chest.
Before he could speak, a girl with pigtails and paint-streaked overalls pointed at him from across the room. “Hey! Who’s the fancy man in the suit?”
The room went quiet for a split second before Henry’s grin turned wolfish. “That, my little monsters, is my baby brother, Perfect Peter.”
Peter’s face flushed, but he straightened, ever the professional. “Hello, it’s a pleasure to—”
“Ugh, he looks like he works in a bank,” the pigtailed girl interrupted, scrunching her nose. A boy with a gap-toothed grin chimed in, “Yeah, a boring bank! Does he ever smile?”
The kids erupted in giggles, and Peter’s cheeks burned hotter. He bowed his head, mortified, as Henry doubled over, wheezing with laughter. “Oh, you lot are savage! Keep it up, you’re making my day!”
Peter shot him a glare. “Very mature, Henry.”
