She looked down to hide her face, because whatever expression she was making was unknown even to herself but she knew it would be too much, and saw that Yoonchae was wearing the laces Megan bought for her; the pale pink ones, because she knew Yoonchae wouldn’t want it to be too bright, because she knew Yoonchae liked the color a lot, because she knew Yoonchae. She wanted to say something about it, aww you’re using the laces I got you!, teasing, casual, like a good friend who noticed things. Megan’s throat worked and nothing came out. Her pinkie squeezed around Yoonchae’s one more time and she let go. She missed the warmth immediately. She was too scared to ask for anything else.
