Summary
”I get the impression that it will be hard for me to deny you anything.”
“How observant, detective. What led you to that conclusion?”
He chuckles, smiling at Henry, who looks at him with a glimmer in his eye. Like a kid looking at candy floss.
“A hunch.”

Summary
Marigold likes to think she’s a good dog. No, scratch that. She knows she’s a great dog. Despite her previous “owners” not sharing the sentiment, she knows that her family does. Chris constantly tells her how good she is, Eddie always smiles fondly at her when he compliments her, and don’t even get her started on Buck. The guy is practically head over tail about her. Well, her and Eddie. But in different ways.
Her point is, she knows that she’s more than just a pretty face. She’s smart and kind and everything a human would need in a canine companion. She’s a catch. And for a while she doubted it. But that changed when Buck came along.
(Or: a look into our favorite golden retriever’s POV, from the moment she met her new family, to new moments shared with them)

Summary
Buck looks over and nods his head, starting to stand up when Charlie starts to stir. He gently rocks her, trying to keep her from waking up. She settles back quickly, and he turns around to grab her bunny when he notices the look on Eddie’s face.
Baby fever is something they’ve both been dealing with lately. It’s led to them making out at the firehouse more than once and looking up names when they can’t sleep. The urge to have another kid has been getting stronger and stronger, and they basically have to sprint away from the baby clothes section at the department store. Karen was the first one to notice what was going on.
(Or: Eddie and Buck have baby fever, and Charlie was the one that got the idea into their heads)

Summary
“He knows he shouldn’t jump to conclusions. That he shouldn’t assume what other people are thinking and feeling. That he shouldn’t catastrophize.
Then again, Buck has never done anything quite as reckless as kissing his best friend. Buck has never made such a thoughtless decision as risking one of the best things he’s ever had in his life. Buck has never done anything that could lead to one of the things he fears the most becoming a reality.
Because the split second that it took for Buck to panic, he realized that he basically clicked the button to blow up his whole life.”
(Or: a kiss happens, spiraling ensues, but they still get their happily ever after)

Summary
Eddie suddenly feels a tiny hand on his right cheek and tries to hide the smile that’s threatening to appear on his face.
“Daddy, wake up.”
A tiny voice whispers. Well, it’s not quite a whisper but he guesses that what it was meant to be. He pretends to let out a snore and he gets a giggle in response.
“Daddy!”
Eddie finally opens his eyes and locks his gaze on a pair of blue eyes.
“Good morning, mi estrella.”
(Or: take a peak at the Buckley-Diaz’s morning, filled with soft moments and Buddie being the best dads in the whole world to Chris and Charlie)

Summary
“Every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn't be here if stars hadn't exploded, because the elements, -the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution and for life weren't created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way for them to get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So forget God: The stars died so that you could be here today.”
