Leading their first mission as the captain of the New Squidbeak Splatoon, they're set for a pretty easy repeat of their past missions. That's, of course, before encountering a biohazard, getting trapped underground, meeting a potential ghost in the machine, and wrangling unwilling new recruit.

Listen to me. If you take anything from me it is to read this fic. Ok? It takes The scifi elements present and splatoon and fucking runs with them to deliver an emotionally devastating portrait of these characters lives. It's got cool formatting. It's got fantastic worldbuilding. It's got resonating character moments and imagery that will live in my brain rent free months from now, especially in the back half of the fic. Its got themes and motifs that I could spend hours dissecting. Its even got vriska. The author's take on worldbuilding and particular delivery of these ideas are creatively fulfilling and refreshing to see play out, and you're only left watching helplessly as the clock reaches its inevitable end.
