When Howard mentions needing to make a quick stop at the Pentagon on their way to the Bahamas, Maria decided she'd rather go to dinner with Tony and leave the next day. She and Tony left the mansion first in one of Howard's cars. Howard left second shortly after.

The Company of Thorin Oakenshield had many grievances during their first few weeks on the road, but the most baffling one was the way the Halfling spoke to the Wizard.
To the Dwarves, Gandalf was a figure of ancient power, a Mithrandir of storm and shadow, a being who could summon fire from his staff and command the respect of Elven Lords. You didn't just talk to a Wizard; you waited for him to speak, and then you nodded as if you understood his riddles.
But Bilbo Baggins didn't seem to have received that particular manual.
