    Summary

Arnold’s point of view during the parts of the Light Novels we know you’re dying to read about (it may not be in order). We psychoanalyze Arnold and his thought process so you don’t have to (unless you want to that is).

    Summary

Rishe had convinced Arnold that they both go on a hike while they were visiting the mountain town for his annual border check. Arnold’s point of contact, the lord and lady governing the village, had spoken of a majestic waterfall that people traveled from all over the world to hike to. So naturally, Rishe knew that she had to see it. As soon as the waterfall was brought up, Arnold had resigned himself to be her guide.

Logically, Arnold knew Rishe would be fine; the small slip wouldn’t have caused her to fall from the log, but with the unexpected weight pulling her back, she was caught off guard and forced further off-balance, resulting in both of them tumbling into the stream.

Drenched and bewildered, Rishe gaped at Arnold with wide eyes from where they both lay in the shallow waters. Meeting Arnold’s similarly taken aback gaze, she started to chuckle, which slowly turned into giggles, which further evolved into full-bellied laughter.

    Summary

Fear. All he could do was helplessly fear. From the day Rishe consented to make love to him, until the day that love bore fruit. It was agony.

“Rishe…” Arnold gasped as she squeezed his hand in a death grip, yet, he didn't care about the way bones shifted beneath her grasp. So long as she survived this, it would all be worth it. If he could take all her pain and give birth for her himself, he would have done so.

It was against all customs for the husband to be in the room with his wife while she was giving birth; but to hell with tradition—Rishe's life was at stake, and he should have listened to his logical brain and not have imposed himself on her.

Though she wouldn't call their relationship that.

    Summary

“I can’t-I can’t…” Rishe cried, her whole body seizing up with a pain she’d never experienced before. Her teeth ground. The skin over her knuckles stretched tight.

“Yes, you can,” Arnold whispered, placing a tender kiss atop her brow. “You can do this.” If she had the lucidity to understand him, she would have been able to tell that he was forcing his voice to sound calm; hear the hidden strain that told her he was worried for her. As it was, all Rishe could do was fight to breathe.

Rishe wasn’t sure how long the process took: if she couldn’t understand her own husband, then there was certainly no chance that she could understand her midwife. Everything was a fevered blur of pain, sweat, and tears. But when she heard the first cry of her baby, all she could focus on was the relief that filled her heart. Every ache dulled down to mere pinpricks.

Her baby, her beautiful baby, alive.
