“Sorry, can’t say that I have.” Natsume said, “I’ve never gone firefly-watching.”
There was a sudden silence. He looked up to find Nishimura and Kitamito staring at him with expressions of identical horror.
“Of course!” Nishimura said, “City boy! You wouldn’t have had many fireflies around at all.”
Well, that was true. And in the instances in the past where Natsume had lived in rural areas, he’d been in no position to seek out fireflies, unless you counted the instances where youkai chased him through areas that happened to contain fireflies.
“…hey, Natsume,” came Kitamito’s voice, startling him out of his memories, “Would you like to come firefly-watching with us?”
