Summary
Now, Gale doesn’t care how seedy or disgusting the tavern is—what matters is that it’s within walking distance, and that it stocks anything drinkable. Besides, unkempt and disgraced as he is, he certainly fits right in.
The first place Gale stumbles upon is a pub right by the docks. Bullywog’s, reads the glowing sign. He can hear people laughing and yelling. For a moment, Gale stands outside, in the dark, filthy street with his hand on the door, just listening. He has the sudden visceral sense of being outside himself, outside the world. A voyeur of the living.
The rush of feeling ebbs, receding like the tide before a tsunami. Gale opens the door.
During the year alone in his tower, Gale meets four mysterious strangers on a mission.

Summary
It was supposed to be like any other Saturday, just a mediocre game of soccer shared between two extremely average elementary school teams. It would’ve gone as predictably as all of their previous state games: Grant’s father hollering football terms over the cheer of other parents, Mr. Oak trying and failing to control his kids, Nick and his dad sharing a blunt under the stands, and Terry Jr.’s weird ass step-dad handing out business cards to the opposing team for some reason. The day would’ve been punctured by a pizza lunch where the entire team would either celebrate a surprising win for the Doodlers or an “opportunity to do better next time.”
The Odyssey hits a rock, the mini-van sails off a cliff, and five children wake up alone.
For once, Grant would do anything to talk to his dad, Nick regrets not opening up to Glenn, Lark and Sparrow wish they could remember Henry’s advice, and Terry Jr. doesn’t know why he’s along for the fucking ride.

Summary
"Darryl," he said. "My friend. I – he – I know I wouldn't have held myself together if not for him. I don't know if any of us could have." He'd been put off by Darryl's energy from the start, his determination to take charge, bring the situation under control, carry them all on his back if he had to – and yet, could Henry ever have carried himself through that, let alone anyone else? "I'm sure you could see it already, even just today. He's one of the strongest people I’ve ever met; he got us all through this and he still had room to really care about us. He’s the best dad” – He nearly choked up at those words, but this potential for joy didn’t deserve to be tainted with guilt. “I know I never cared much for him before, but I fell in love with him out there, Mercedes.”
"I can see it," she said, and kissed the corner of his mouth. "You're radiant with it. I haven't seen you in new love in years."
Upon their return from the Forgotten Realms, Henry and Darryl each have a lot of things to sort out about their relationships with their wives, themselves - and each other.

Summary
The Library was just too strong, and Darryl bravely sacrificed himself to save his fellow dads.
Unfortunately (or maybe, fortunately???) the Library liked Darryl's taste a bit too much, and decided that he might be worth keeping around to savor properly.
Darryl is lucky he is lovable for more reasons than his delicious meaty skin.
