But the sheer amount of attention he’s given you. The time. “You’re not really getting anything out of this. Not if you don’t put it on exhibit.”
There’s a pause in the rhythm of his sketching. “Ma petite muse,” Rafayel purrs, the endearment dripping with amusement. "Are you asking me why I ‘do’ art?”

When fishermen from her village accidentally kill a young Lemurian, her village must find a way to appease the furious Sea God.
Unfortunately, the Sea is cruel and it demands an eye for an eye.
To her horror she finds it's up to her to repay the debt to the Sea God's satisfaction.
(Or: MC is a somewhat unwilling sacrifice left for Rafayel who decides the only way for her village to pay for the life of the Lemurian child they killed is for her to make a new one with him. Fortunately, he has just the tools he needs to do that thanks to some fancy Lemurian biology ... )

He couldn't bring himself to admit how many times he had zoomed in and brought his hand to the screen in a pathetic gesture just to imagine he could feel the warmth of your cheek against his palm. His reason for life, granted to him by you, stunted and stalled by...well. By his death.
He's back, now. He'd endured countless horrors and torn open the gates of hell to claw his way back to you. At last, he could return to his purpose. To kneel at your feet and present his neck to your boot. Nod his head yes and bow to your every order. Be right where he belongs. But...
In his absence, you've started taking care of yourself. Poorly. Very poorly. And you're so fucking stubborn, refuting his help. It makes his jaw hurt with how hard he clenches his teeth.
This night, though, this blessed, perfect night, you finally let him back in. You finally let him further. It's more than anything he could have ever dreamed. He should know better by now, but you make him so hopeless he can’t help himself. He knows good things for him never last.
