"I truly could not begin to guess, Griddle," Harrow murmured, chin dipping towards her chest. The heat in her eyes was a blistering force, raising Gideon's core temperature even as it bled into her voice. "Simply because I know you know better than to speak to me in that manner."

She said it so strongly she almost believed it herself. Lately, everything felt like too much. She was constantly five seconds away from bashing her head out because the lights were too bright and the constant chatter which felt like daggers every time she stepped out of her office. She had felt like this her whole life, and yet this time it somehow felt worse. The light that flickered in her office never bothered her that much before, but now, it was painful.
