On Christmas Eve, Dennis is having one of the worst nights of his life. He's once again away from home and family, broke, and can't even spend the night with Trinity.
Things could not get worse -- or so he thinks. Whitaker finds himself involved on a car accident and is taken to The Pitt as a patient, not a doctor. Summary
300 years was a long time to be alone, but Dennis knew it was for the greater good, after all, he was a vampire and would outlast any lovers or acquaintances he could ever meet, so loneliness was his solution.
That didn't mean that he isolated himself completely.
He'd craft identities from thin air and live a relatively normal life for a few years before hiding again; always a new name, new friends, new job. He supposed he wouldn't consider them lives, tragedies fit the description better.
An ER doctor was truly his bravest adventure yet; surrounded by so much blood when he could barely feed due to his long shifts pushed him to the edge frequently. But what was possibly more dangerous was two of his attendings.
Everyone else often smelt of cheap shampoo or body wash, but them? They smelt as if they were soaked in blood constantly.
Perhaps, this would become more interesting with time.
TLDR; vamp dennis, serial killers jack and robby - mess ensues

Summary
Dennis Whitaker was, for all intents and purposes, dead. At least that was what his family thought anyways. The reality was much more complicated. Death insinuated peace and thanks to his maker, Dennis never got that.
Or
AU where Dennis gets turned into a vampire in 1925, when he is starting his first year of Medical school, leaving behind his estranged (very queer) wife, their child, and a family who regrets his existence. Dennis disappears and is presumed dead. A funeral is held, time passes, and he is entirely forgotten. After a century of fighting in wars, traveling the world, and living off blood, he realizes that life has lost all meaning and he needs to do something. That something includes becoming a med student in Pittsburgh, and starting rotations at PTMC, or the Pitt, as his new (very attractive) attending, Dr. Michael Robinavitch, likes to call it. Unfortunately for him, ghosts are always ready to drag him to hell, and the last thing he wants is to drag Robby down with him.Bookmarked by Devilking13
