Bruce puts his hand behind Jason’s head and wraps an arm around him, and for a second, Jason can breathe. But only for a second.

Time, which seemed to be going so quickly for Jason only moments before, seemed to become agonizingly slow. He couldn’t see the bomb going off, but he could feel it. He was on fire, burning alive, melting, dying.
Then he blinked, and he could see stars through the smoke, and he couldn’t bring himself to care that he was dying.
With one last shaky inhale, the stars disappeared, and the pain went with them.
