Summary
The waters were red. Not with the blood of a gutted fish but the hues of the setting sun sinking into the sea, yet only in one particular spot. As though there was a blaze in the depths, rising to the surface and bringing something else with it.
Golden hair that burned red towards the ends and floated in the water all around, flickering like flames with the bob of the waves. A pale forehead. The arch of eyebrows. The dark fan of wet eyelashes.
Two eyes bright eyes stared back.
He raised his hand in a little wave and forced a smile. “Hello. My name is Phainon. Are you a sea fairy?”
While exploring the coasts of Aedes Elysiae, Phainon chances upon a young siren by the name of Mydeimos just before he disappears beneath the sea foam he came from.
Phainon is determined to see him again, even if it means spending every day searching the shores for a glimpse of red and gold amongst the waves.
Yet when Mydeimos finally resurfaces it isn’t with a siren song to take Phainon under with him. But golden blood dripping from a blackened wound and no one to care for him.
