Summary
After the Shire faced a second Fell Winter, Bilbo found himself traveling along a Dwarven caravan towards the great kingdom of Erebor. Following tales of plentiful work and plentiful pay Bilbo takes on a new role within the Kingdom Under the Mountain to support his kin back home.
If the King Under the Mountain was incredibly handsome to look at, well that was just a bonus. If his bed was incredibly comfortable? Even better.

Summary
“My birthday’s September twenty-second. We’re exactly a month apart.” Bilbo had grinned at him so widely then that Thorin barely registered the implication of what he’d said.
“Yours has passed too,” he frowned when he realized. “We shall have to do something for next year.”
“Next year? You’d… want me to stay through next September?” And the hope that Thorin knew Bilbo was trying to smother shone so clearly on his face that he’d wanted to throw all caution to the wind and show him exactly how close he wanted him to stay.

Summary
The Took family’s collective sense of uncanny rebellion, adventure, curiosity, and overall lack of respectability aren’t the only reasons the rest of the Shire deemed them menaces. The family was never banished from the area, as the other Hobbits knew they were no match for the freaks of nature.
Every generation of Took children, regardless of their other parent, have been born with something different. Something that the other Hobbits whisper about behind their hands when the clan passes. Something that has gotten them rude insults, glares, and even physical attacks.
The Took clan Hobbits all have wings. And Bilbo “Mad Hobbit” Took is no exception.
AKA, Bilbo gives no fucks and is way more powerful than his travelling companions could ever imagine.

“No communication issues?” Thorin repeated, looking at the hobbit now with even more uncertainty. “You didn’t think to tell me that this hobbit only spoke his own language?”
“A minor setback, really,” the wizard said, waving off the dwarf’s concerns with a smile. He squeezed Bilbo’s shoulder before clearing his throat. “Young Master Baggins, here, is the son of one of the Shire’s most proficient Westron speakers. He was exposed to the language as a child, although he hasn’t had much use for it in his lifetime so his skills have, understandably, diminished. But I have no doubt that, given the opportunity to learn, he would pick it up quite quickly. He is a clever fellow if I’ve ever known one.”
(OR: Thorin needs a burglar, Bilbo needs a dictionary, and Gandalf needs a drink.)
