    How very on the nose. Even he has heard the murmurs from within the Jingshi, and so Lan Wangji is expecting the summons well before it reaches him, his qiankun pouch already packed and Bichen humming steadily at his hip. Her presence is a warm and long-familiar weight that sways with his steps as he makes his way to the Hanshi, where Brother is no doubt awaiting his arrival.

    Summary

    Lan Wangji, the prized omega of the Lan sect, falls into enemy hands when he tries to defend his sect brothers and sisters during an attack on Cloud Recesses. They are dragged to Qishan, but on the way, the Wen soldiers make the mistake of wandering into the Wei sect territory. One slaughter later, Lan Wangji is brought before the Yiling Patriarch and it sets his life on a new trajectory, one that he’s fully unprepared for.

    Summary

    The Cloud Recesses Guest Lectures were held every three years for disciples between the ages of fifteen and eighteen. They had three purposes.

    The first (and the reason it was hosted by the Lan) was to provide a shared baseline understanding of the core cultivation topics that underpinned every sect while not divulging clan-specific approaches.

    The second was to create opportunities for friendships and alliances that would reduce the chance of war between the clans.

    The third, and most important, was for the clans to replenish their bloodline by finding compatible mates with strong cultivation skills. In the last month of the lectures, challenges to test compatibility could be issued.

    Wei Wuxian challenges Lan Wangji, sure that they are compatible mates. The Lan refuse to allow the Challenge.

    They come to regret it.

    It was supposed to be a harmless little spell. A curiosity. Now there’s a fifteen-year-old Wei Wuxian waking up in bed beside Lan Wangji – in the future, no less – and a battle-hardened, fully grown Wei Wuxian wreaking havoc in the past, where Jiang Cheng is panicking, Nie Huaisang is flailing, and Lan Zhan is increasingly confused and flustered.

    Time travel was not on the syllabus at Cloud Recesses. Neither, apparently, was falling in love early.
