Summary
Following the dwarven exile from Erebor, Thorin is having trouble finding a job where his skills are appreciated. He also discovers the menfolk of Middle Earth aren’t necessarily trustworthy. As his kin settle in the Blue Mountains far from Erebor, Thorin wanders further south to find work. He is forced to swallow his pride and take a job that is as foreign to him as his new surroundings.

The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.
