Soap dug around in his pack and produced two plastic tubes and a bandage wrap. The plastic tubes were probably from other bandages.
“They’ve come in handy, haven’t they?” teased MacTavish. Ghost must have been staring at them.
“I’m just worried about the fact you don’t clean out your med pack, MacTavish.”
“Ah’ restock it. And I empty it sometimes. No’ good enough fer’ ya’?”
Ghost would have commented if one of the tubes wasn’t suddenly placed onto his leg. It made him jolt, which in turn jolted the knife. He clapped a hand over his mouth and bit down on the inside of his mask. Hard. Tears gathered in his eyes but he blinked them away.
OR
Ghost is taken by surprise and gets a knife to the knee. It’s worse than he thought.

Johnny had looked at Simon and not seen the lone wolf everyone thought him to be, but rather the lonely coyote. A scavenger. But Johnny had been wrong too- Simon wasn’t a wolf or a coyote, he was a mutt bred for his lockjaw and he’d never been any good at letting go. It’d saved him- too many times to count. It would kill him, too.
