“Hey Siri, call Lily.” After a pause, “Hey Siri, put it on speaker,” was the next slurred command to come from the concussed hockey star.
All Andrea could do was watch in a state of both fascination and horror as the call was picked up after two rings.
“Shane? Are you okay?”
“Ilyyaaa! It’s your voice! How did they do that?” Shane looked at the device in awe.
Ilya’s confusion and genuine concern was audible. “What? Shane, what do you mean?”
“Ah!” Shane exclaimed, giggling into his hands. “Hi!” He looked up, then in a stage whisper, he said, “my nurse is still here. So be quiiiiiiiet.”

Summary
Yuna Hollander rounded the corner and finally came in view of the door to Shane’s hospital room. Her hand was almost on the handle when she noticed someone was already in the room, and she stopped in her tracks.
At first she thought it might be one of Shane's teammates checking in on him, but the blonde curls at the back of the man’s head told her he wasn’t anyone she would have recognised from the Metros. Thinking about it, it made no sense, but he almost looked like—
A clipped voice, slightly muffled by the door but with an unmistakable Russian accent confirmed her bewildered assumption. “Could have been worse,” she heard Ilya Rozanov say.
When Ilya goes to visit Shane in the hospital in episode 5, Shane's mother sees him. They talk.

“Okay. That part I get. But fuck, man, why him?” Hayden barked.
“Dude,” Shane said, running a hand through his hair, “I’ve already told you—”
“No!” Hayden cut him off, voice cracking with a mix of frustration and disbelief. “No, no, no! You told us why you love Lily! You said he challenges you, he makes room for you, all that soft, romantic stuff—but there isn’t a shred of proof that that sweet, slightly awkward, totally manageable guy could possibly be Rozanov. Rozanov! The guy people usually want to beat the shit out of on the ice! And you love him?”
Shane pinched the bridge of his nose, exhaling slowly. “Yes. I love him."
Hayden froze mid-gesture, eyes wide, as if Shane had just announced he was going to join a cult. “Him? Really? Him?”
Amber's fussing turned both men to Jackie who was raising an eyebrow at her husband. "You are going to have to calm down, Hayden. If you hadn't been so busy fighting when Shane got hurt, maybe you would have noticed that Ilya tried to leave with him?"
"Ilya?! Since when the fuck do you call him Ilya?!"

Summary
When Ilya gets a text from Shane in the hospital that just says “I’m so sorry,” he has no idea what to think. He expects the worst, except he doesn’t know what the worst possibly is.
Ten minutes later Ilya receives a text from a phone number without a contact. His heart seems to stop as he opens it.
“Ilya Rozanov,” it reads, and then on another line, “this is Yuna Hollander, Shane Hollander’s mother. I’m inviting you to dinner at Montoya's at 5:30pm tonight. It is private and quiet. Please be there.”
Shane accidentally spills the beans to his parents while high on pain meds and Ilya has to have dinner with them alone.
