From the moment he’d leapt off the roof of Sandrock City Hall and into their life, it had been obvious to them that the ‘Protector of Sandrock’ was a classic example about what they liked to call I.B.T.: Impressively Bad Taste. He was easy on the eyes- that was for damn sure- but he was also arrogant, vain, selfish, stupid and, if not actively cruel, at the very least a little mean-spirited.
Pen was the kind of guy to fall into a relationship because it was convenient and made him feel good. He was the kind of guy to make faces every time the subject of making things serious or official came up. He was the kind of guy to give vague excuses about it “just not being the right time” because he didn’t want to commit but still wanted the perks.
They’d known that the same way an enraged wild yakmel knew not to attack its neighbour: because the two of them were the same kind of animal.
Sure, they hadn't exactly been excited to find out they'd been fucking a murderous war criminal, but even with Pen broken out of prison, they didn't really see how that was supposed to be their problem. He wasn't a sentimental guy.
It wasn't like he was going to come back for them.

It is a common misconsception brought on by the likes of Vilgax that the best and only use of the Omnitrix is that of a weapon. If you'd ask the Omnitrix, it would say nothing because it has no mouth, and simply continue to be, to change, collect data, learn. Then, a new bearer bonds to it, and among the new genetic information it files away, it notices that they, too, are changing, learning, possibly improving.

Summary
You ended it all one fateful night, but instead of dying, were swept up in a world of war with a bundle of a skeleton in your arms. With a crazy scientists chasing you for something you don’t even remember doing, figuring out how to escape with your little brother still alive, a life that isn’t quite yours, lots of angst, and even more comfort… this will be quite the wild ride.
Now including a skeleton-house that is becoming VERY concerned for your mental wellbeing, (buried after the much-needed war-trauma,) you have to deal with a whole ‘nother group of wacky skeletons judging you. AGAIN.But… in order to have the best comfort fic, you sometimes need to have the worst angst beforehand.
Or, as Gaster once said… you need to break a few eggs in order to make an omelette. :]

Waking up as a skeleton surrounded by more skeletons - all of whom you have no idea who they are- is definitely not your cup of tea. Even more unpleasant, the person whose body you stole is still inside and now your stuck with a very unhappy human-hating skeleton! Yikes, sucks to be you...
