Wei Wuxian didn’t get why Jin Ling felt the need to be so contradictory, and hurtful at times. Despite the appearances, they were friends indeed, mostly thanks to Lan Sizhui’s efforts.

“That,” he said, slamming the cup back on the table, “is the second coming of Jin Zixuan.”In which Jin Ling inherited his father's romance skills and Wei Wuxian feels compelled to step in and help the kids out (also Jiang Cheng asked him to).

Izuku is five years old the first time he's saved by heroes. He's an instant fan of the woman in pink with her cheerful smile and the man with his ice powers and fine-boned features, even if they both refuse to tell him their names.
For most of his life, Izuku has been the centre of villain attacks, but he has never been injured. Every time, he's saved by bright, unknown heroes—heroes who smile at Izuku, and ruffle his hair or ply him with hugs, and seem mesmerised by how small he is.

When Wei Wuxian returns to life because of Mo Xuanyu's sacrifice, it's to find himself in a world where his sister is miraculously alive, Lan Zhan hasn't been seen in over ten years and is presumed dead, and Cloud Recesses itself has apparently been turned into a frozen wasteland.
When Lan Xichen arrives in Lotus Pier and asks the newly-resurrected Wei Wuxian for his help to fix Cloud Recesses, Wei Wuxian can't pass up the chance to see if he can't figure out what happened to the man he might have loved, if only he'd allowed himself back then.
