    “He'd appreciate the effort,” Tommy says softly, and Evan's shoulders hitch as he lets out a quick, quiet little laugh. “But he wouldn't want you to torture yourself.”

    “I don't know what else to do.”

    Tommy hugs him tighter, and Evan's arms squeeze him with equal strength. “This, to start.”

    “Are you in love with Eddie?” he blurted out, completely steamrolling over whatever else Tommy had been saying and stopping him dead in his tracks, making him almost choke on his stupidly fancy BLT.
    Once Tommy had stopped coughing, his eyes still a little watery and his voice still a little raw, he croaked out, “Excuse me?”
