Summary

There is a pattern to Shadow Milk shifting forms.
Pure Vanilla started mapping it to better expect when he'd find a snake in his closet, or a porcupine on his chair.
It always comes back to perception; or Shadow Milks want to not be perceived at all.
While his beast loved his theatrics and ached desperately for his attention, did not he want others to perceive him. His time as the Fount, both a profound breach of personal boundaries and intense isolation, left his dear beast's emotional processing absolutely destroyed.
So he changed his form.

“Fire Spirit Cookie?” He doesn’t bother to mask the bewilderment in his voice. The cookie in question smiles cautiously, dangling upside-down from that unnecessary cape of his, which is currently caught on Wind Archer’s arrow.
“I expected a warmer welcome?” Fire Spirit parrots. Wind Archer suppresses an amused smile at the scene in front of him as the silver arrow disintegrates. Fire Spirit makes a startled noise, catching himself in the air instead of falling.
“What are you doing here?” Wind Archer asks, lowering his bow.
