He really can't help himself, even when Jason wants to kill him. Actually, Tim thinks that Jason wanting him dead only exacerbates the whole issue, but no one asks about it (because no one knows), so he never tells (and he never will).

“Cait,” Jayce sighed and finally faced her. The intensity of his gaze, paired with the gravity with which he spoke, surprised her. “He helps people in need for no cost. His augmentations are genius. With the mask and everything, he’s just… awesome. Inspiring.” After a moment, Jayce averted his gaze and confessed, “He inspires me.”
Caitlyn snorted. “Someone has a crush—”
Jayce went red. “Shut up—”
Their conversation continued, but Viktor’s attention defected. When Jayce said the Machine Herald inspired him, something warm and fuzzy stirred within Viktor. His imagination—that callous betrayer—began to race with possibilities.

The air was still– a bit too still. Despite the sound of birds chirping and the slight breeze, the silence was deafening. The screeching was endless as the hexcore previously collapsed around them, though it must’ve only lasted for an additional minute or two after they embraced each other. Now it was nothing but silence.
Which led them to where they are now.
After the hexcore collapses around them, Jayce and Viktor get teleported far away from Piltover, allowing them to live in peace. Problem is, guilt from the past continues to eat away at Viktor.
