Many years before this, the Seventh Doctor decided to remedy this.
*AU during Short story: How did this creep get in here, Professor? Some text in the beginning taken from the story, but it is interspersed with some extra stuff too. Basically the AU starts where the Master tries to destroy the TARDIS console with a hammer. Then it diverges. Hope that makes sense.

The Master breathed out slowly and reached up, hands smoothing out some wrinkles in the Doctors awful suit. His fingers wandered down, gripping the lapels of that even more awful brown coat and pulled the Doctor closer, down to his eye level. Their noses were almost touching now and the Doctors brown eyes widened, staring back at him in surprise.
“Okay, I’ll give. Want me to tag on after you, sure. I can do that. But you know, just while I’m at it…”, The Master purred, voice dropping low with a devilish grin spread wide on his face.
“I’m going to make your life a living hell, Doctor.”
