Summary
Bruce Wayne is the crown prince and future king of Gotham, the most influential kingdom in Camelot. He has sworn an oath of loyalty to his father and their people. He would do anything to win the love of either, including enforcing an important tenant of the Most Noble House of Wayne: rid the world of all magic and its users.
Clark Kent is his manservant, but more importantly his best friend. And he is keeping a terrible secret . . .

"Bruce." Clark turns towards him, leaning back against a bank of consoles. "We're not actually going undercover. We don't need an elaborate backstory– if anything, it'll be harder to keep straight. It doesn't have to be complicated." He spreads his hands. "Here's a story: we're members of the same elite fighting force. After years of saving each other's lives in the field, we fell in love. That's it."
Bruce swallows past the almost-truth of it. In Clark's warm smooth radio voice, it sounds plausible. It sounds like something that could happen.

Once, Barbara said she needed time and Dick said he could give her that. She needed time to think, to consider, to be ready. And then, she thinks, when she sees him again, maybe this time she is, maybe they are.
There's too much emotion; it's too raw, too deep, and tonight, she decides, it's something to lose themselves in.
(Dick spends the night at Barbara's. What begins as a cordial visit goes far beyond that.)

Those eyes, weeping and bleeding, focused on Clark, clearing the static for just a moment, looking at Clark for help, to save him.
“Dad–” Kon choked out, blood pouring out of his mouth and rolling down his chin, pooling in the hollow of this throat, endlessly dark. His left hand dragged on the concrete to reach for Clark’s foot.
Clark held his hand. “Don’t move. Don’t move, Kon-El, I’m right here. Don’t move. Don’t try to talk.”
Kon is shot with a Kryptonite-coated bullet. Clark and the rest of their family reel and recover.
