“Shall we call them one and two?” mused Maglor. “But who shall be the first? Twins always fight over that. Perhaps once can be Small and the other Short. Or we can continue Dior’s fretful claims to the crown — All hail the Great-Great-Grandson of Elu Thingol! — and the spare.”

“I am utterly terrible, but they have no one else, and their father is lost at sea and their mother has become a star, and I cannot keep calling them <>the one with slightly longer hair or the one that likes the sea or the one that now plans to yell at the Valar because their mother’s jewel is now gallivanting in the sky!”

Birdwatching as a holy quest to honor Manwe.
Also, i think the author knows a few birdwatchers, and multiplied by elvish intensity.

That was the exact moment Ling knew: no hesitation was a must.

This has been haunting me as "The one where Ling does reckless alchemy because he's learned just enough. "

    Summary

When the Human natal sun started to turn really red, it wasn’t that big a deal at first. It’s a very important, very sad event for any species, but it happens to everyone eventually.

Then the Elves sent us a message.

    Bookmarker's Notes

Once upon a time in a woodland camp, a bunch of men woke up and found that a bright-eyed figure had slipped in among them in the night, stolen someone's harp and was now playing the most beautiful music any of them had ever heard, and then like older siblings to younger the elves taught the men much of smithcraft and finer arts, and men - some of these, some of others - swore allegiances to elvish kings, or made alliances, and they saved each other back and forth over the centuries and millennia... But elves are stagnate by nature and they stayed at home and/or faded, and the men always changed with each generation and they went on and on and out, infinitely out through the stars, and they never really understood elvish magic but now they've developed their own called "science" and they're SO mighty and shining and skilled with it, mightier in some ways than the old gods of Arda themselves, and it's THEIR turn to be glorious and here to help...

    Bookmarker's Notes

The first story caught me with how very Right Greed and Ling were.

Excerpt from Two's a Crowd. Chapter Eleven - Our Reflection :

There’s nothing left. There’s no one in that mirror that I can still have. He still didn’t look away, and Ling watched the chimeras laugh, saw Dolcetto reach over to Greed and-

...And tussle their ponytail. That’s not true. Ling let his vision slip back over to his version of the mirror just for a second, just to check that that version of them was still wearing clothes he’d never so much as gotten a close look at before. Sure enough, that was still happening.

    So. This would probably work.

Kid, I don’t know how you missed those memories, but-

“Idiot.” Greed really didn’t have any fight left in him. Ling faced no resistance as he reached forward. He pressed one hand to their reflection, and rested the other over their heart. “I’m right here.”
