Summary
Arthur and John return from the Dark World, separated and navigating a world that feels foreign to them after their journey. Noel wakes up in a hospital, a year of his life lost to a place he doesn't dare to remember and a bullet wound a reminder of the men he'd loved and lost. Oscar finally learns to forgive, but does not dare to forget.
A story about four men who slowly learn that their trauma does not make them, and love isn't always easy.

It’s ridiculous, John knows this, it's a job, just a job, one that will pay the bills, it’s even one that requires a level of knowledge he’s spent the better part of two decades cultivating. It’s just-
John loathed high school the first time. He could never understand the rules people expected him to follow, so the thought of going back–willingly–even to work as a sound tech for a school he’s never stepped foot in is-

or John is a broke techie, so he takes a job at the local high school, helping in the sound booth and teaching students more about it. Arthur Lester is a single dad whose daughter is in her last year of high school, and her theater department needs a new pianist for their fall musical.

Summary
“No, I—” Jon shifted heavily to one elbow and disentangled his other hand from the sheets, using it to grasp across the empty space between them. His eyes were wide and his voice was unusually thick. “Could you— I want—”
“Oh!”
Martin blushed at the misunderstanding. He kicked off his shoes, hurried his legs up onto the bed, and scooched over to join him under the covers.
“Right, of course. I’m here. I've got you.”

Long after they arrive Somewhere Else, Jon is laid up in bed suffering from the consequences of being dethroned as Pupil of the Eye, and gets thoroughly snuggled about it. Martin manages to say a few words about his own feelings and fears, and also gets snuggled.

Summary
"If the Institute was a nightmare, then Jon hopes Scotland is not a dream. Dreams, as he knows so well now, can be stolen. Worse, still, is that even the most wonderful of dreams is fleeting, and when they end, they’re so very rarely remembered. Those which remain in the light of day rarely hold up under scrutiny—They’re impossible, and worse, they leave a lingering bafflement. What was I thinking? Was I even thinking at all?
At the back of Jon’s skull is the doubt that he’s just one wrong move away from finally waking Martin up."
