Effie Trinket, a refined Lady of the City who wore bright wigs and dresses worth enough money to feed a family of four three years, never showed up somewhere unannounced. Now, Haymitch often missed said announcements, but, when he expressed his surprise at her sudden appearance, she would bitch about some letter she sent or a conversation they had on the phone that he couldn’t remember due to his overindulgence as she called it. Not once had he opened his door to her and not received the same lecture about keeping a calendar or writing things down.
Well. Apparently once, now. When he opened the door, surprisingly sober for three o’clock in the afternoon, and said some sarcastic shit about her being a lovely surprise, Effie decided to instead greet him with that sentence.
