Summary
Shane is perfectly fine with the arrangement, playing musical chairs with gold and silver, pushing the limits of the sport on ice, and testing Shane's personal limits in dark hotel rooms and locker room showers, as competitors first, as people who only see each other a handful of times a year and blow off some steam together. Ideal for a discrete, mutually beneficial arrangement. Until, a (supposedly) innocent Ilya Rosanov makes a sudden change in the wake of the Russian doping scandal, leaving his home rink in Moscow to work with Shane's coach in Montreal, and making them, for the forseeable future, rinkmates.

Shrugging one shoulder far more casually than he possibly feels, Ilya says, “I like both. Is secret, okay?”
“Okay,” Hollander says, voice tiny.
He doesn’t say anything else. The air’s so heavy around them that it feels like being in the middle of a scrum, the weight and heat of all those bodies pressing down on you. Danger always feels like hockey; it’s the most dangerous thing Ilya knows, except for this. Everything dangerous in his life involves men’s bodies and just how close he can get to them. Closer than he probably should.
In Juniors, Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov are set up as hockey's biggest rivals. There's just one problem - after Shane unexpectedly drops out of the 2009 draft, they both end up being signed by the Boston Raiders. And, as it turns out, it's a lot harder to avoid your feelings for someone when you see them every single day.
