Summary
Amber doesn’t really surprise Tara anymore.
They’ve known each other too long for any of Amber’s antics to really dismay her, especially after being subjected to them for as long as she has.
Well, except for when Amber is carefully trailing her fingers along the insides of her thighs and she’s leaving sweet kisses where Tara would anticipate harsh bites.
She actually finds it astonishingly surprising how gentle of a lover Amber is.
Tara finds it an even bigger surprise when she realizes how impossibly fucked she is when it comes to the likes of Amber Freeman.

Summary
She walks, takes out her burner phone, and calls Tara’s landline. It rings, and rings, and rings, and goes to voicemail. As expected. Not according to plan, however, is Tara ignoring her texts. It’s like she’s fallen off the planet. She had been heading down to the kitchen to make dinner, and now she was gone. It wasn’t like her.
Amber hesitates for a moment before calling her cell as herself, voice modifier off. There’s some strange feeling in her gut now. Something is not right. Tara always texts her back. She even has a stupid little Siri command for when she’s riding her bike for it to send: “Sorry, driving rn!!! Will get back to you soon!!!!”
Tara doesn’t answer. Her voicemail says: “Hi! This is Tara’s phone, and Tara can’t answer your call right now! I think texting her would be better, but, if you insist, leave a message at the—” It beeps, and Amber hangs up. Calls again. “Hi! This is Tara’s phone, and Tara can’t answer your call right now! I think texting her would be better, but, if you insist, leave a message at the—”

Summary
“Years—? I figured it out this morning.” Tara crosses her eyes, looking at Amber with scrutiny. “I was waiting for you to say something, but now you’re being weird about it. Why are you being weird?”
“What do you mean you figured it out this morning? You figured it out when we were sophomores. We’re seniors now. I don’t know if this whole, put us in old clothes and braid your hair like we’re kids, thing is supposed to be a—I don’t know—punishment, but it’s really fucking uncanny. I don’t like it.”
The frustration leaves Tara’s face, replaced instead with some odd combination of confusion and concern. “We are sophomores, idiot. I don’t get the joke. Not funny.”
“Sorry,” Amber says, testing the waters. “Can I actually—what’s the date, today? I’m… blanking.”
“It’s the 25th,” Tara says easily. “September 25th. 2019.”

Summary
“Well, we need an excuse for me to go into Woodsboro, and I’ve gotten pretty close with Sam Carpenter recently…”
“Sam?” Amber asks, surprised. “Tara’s absentee sister, Sam?”
“Yeah. I think we’re close enough that if Sam went back to Woodsboro, I could go with her.”
Amber hesitates, confused. “Okay, but… what could lure her back to Woodsboro?”
“That brings in my new idea for an opening kill. Someone lovable, someone helpless: there won’t even be a good chase, but none of the fans will care because the bloodbath will be so wonderful,” Richie says, voice crazed. After a moment of dramatic pause, he says: “Tara.”
Tara, with her gentle hands, and loving smile, opinionated rants and perfect pasta? Tara, who always listens, who is lying all pretty and small in bed right now, probably waiting for Amber to come back given her tendency to drop to sub-zero temperatures when she sleeps alone? That Tara? “...What?”

A change in plans that puts her best friend on the chopping block forces Amber Freeman to rethink her priorities. Canon-divergent Tara/Amber AU.
