He remembered seeing Rengoku’s panicked expression as his body changed, trembling and staring at Tengen like the older hashira would know what to do.
He remembered the Kamado boy screaming into the woods after the fleeing demon, begging it to come back and face him.
He remembered the boar-headed boy fretting over Rengoku’s prone form as the other writhed on the ground, not knowing how to help or react.
Then the sun had started to rise above the horizon and Tengen panicked. He’d ripped the cape from Rengoku’s shoulders and wrapped the other man up, hoping to delay the sun’s effects on his friend’s changing skin.
