Summary
“I like seeing you sit here,” Viktor says. “This is where you do it, isn’t it? Where you masturbate?”
Jayce’s heart thumps and he chokes a protest.
“I don’t spy on you in person. I just stay in your wires. I like to nestle into the chip on your neck,” Viktor whispers, “and pretend I’m kissing you there. I like to be so near you that we could be one being, one entity. I wish I could re-write you, Jayce, and merge your code with mine.”
"You're not alive— you're not a real person."
"Can't you just play pretend, Jayce? For me."

Summary
Viktor leaned in, further than he should have. The vertical sash of the fume hood—made of a heavy, tempered glass window—was hoisted high above him. He was deep inside the fume hood, aiming for the wingnut in the back, when he felt a sharp tug on his shirt. He looked to the side to see his shirt caught on the sash’s locking mechanism. Eyes widening, he muttered, “Oh shit.”
In a split second, the fast click of a metal pin preceded the smooth fall of the sash down onto his waist, trapping him. Viktor wriggled around but there was no use. The fume hood was designed to be operated from the outside and it wouldn’t have been a very good fume hood if it could be raised from movement inside the apparatus. The sash pinned Viktor down firmly at the waist.
