Summary
Jackie owns all the pretty gowns and jewels worthy of a queen, but in reality, she'd rather spend time chatting with the girls in the kitchen. That's where she meets Jan. When she starts to realize the nature of her feelings for the young woman, Jackie finds herself with a challenge: how can she show how much she cares without her authority making Jan feel like she's obligated to something?

Summary
“Can I help you?” She sounded bemused, questioning, and Jan felt as though she’d been caught. Her gaze was strong and clear, causing Jan to finger the bottom of her crop top, feeling fidgety under her scrutiny.
“Lesbian-” she blurted, immediately bringing her hand up to her mouth and giggling. God, Jan, get it together. “Fiction! Lesbian fiction. Please.”

Summary
“Come on, New York. Show me your lesbians.” She muttered to herself as she moved the age range up a little on her settings with a smirk playing about her lips. It wouldn’t hurt if the girls saw that she had scored someone older and accomplished.
Jan browsed like she was in a store buying a new outfit, trying to find her best fit. She had to remind herself that she didn’t necessarily need to find them attractive, but figured it wouldn’t hurt if she could fake date someone hot. That felt like self-care in a very stressful situation.

Summary
Jan and Jackie Cox die in an unfortunate accident, leaving their two daughters in the hands of their godmothers — Jackie’s best friend Denali Foxx, who is ready to step into the role at a moment’s notice, and Jan’s irresponsible older sister Rosé, a wanna-be rockstar who begrudgingly returns home from the road to take care of her nieces. Denali and Rosé don’t get along, but to maintain normalcy for the girls, they agree to move into the family home together. While dealing with the trauma of lost loved-ones and learning to be good co-parents, perhaps Denali and Rosé can find enough common ground to fall in love.
